Frequently Asked Questions
Common DPC Questions
Does DPC accept health insurance?
No, DPC does not accept health insurance. Our commitment to offering affordable care is rooted in avoiding the bureaucratic complexities, denials, rules, and restrictions imposed by insurance companies on healthcare providers. Testing and referrals ordered by Dr. Fisher are covered by insurance, depending on your insurance company policies.
Is DPC another form of health insurance?
No, DPC is a healthcare service. Think of it as your health maintenance service, similar to swimming pool or HVAC maintenance services.
Do I still need insurance?
Yes, you will still need insurance for major medical needs such as serious illness or accidents. DPC covers your primary care needs (about 80-90% of healthcare dollars spent in this country), and many individuals opt for a higher deductible plan to offset the membership fees of DPC. Many DPC patients utilize health share services as well.
Do you provide superbills for us to send to our insurance?
No, we don’t provide superbills. By avoiding involvement in insurance processes, we can focus on providing medical care at a reasonable fee, eliminating the hassles of insurance-related arguments and coding issues.
Am I required to sign a contract that commits me to a certain time frame?
We have a patient agreement that renews monthly. You have the flexibility to disenroll at any time with just 24 hours’ notice, and any services provided within the month would be prorated for a refund.
May I restart my membership if I cancel?
Yes, you can restart your membership, but there is a re-enrollment fee of $200 per member.
Is this like “concierge” medicine?
DPC is somewhat similar to concierge medicine in that it requires a monthly fee, but without the high price tag or valet parking! We aim to provide a concierge level of service to all members while ensuring affordability for individuals with diverse incomes, whether or not they have insurance.
